Finishing process improves bearing oil seal life
Dramatic increases in bearing oil seal life for pumps, gear boxes or any rotary seal applications are promised by Evans & Price, with the adaption of a process called Generating Bearing Quality --GBQ. This was originally conceived to improve bearing life. Called the Cimtec Series 50, the frst machine to use this process in Europe is currently in build at the Tamworth works of Evans & Price.
Unlike conventional microfinishing processes that only improves surface finish, GBQ also improves the geometry in terms of roundness and parallelism.
The Cimtec machine takes GBQ technology and applies it to smaller components. This is achieved by taking the "between centres" GBQ process and adapting it for "centreless" microfinishing.
