Communication from Natuurkundig Laboratorium der Rijks-Universiteit te Groningen S u m m a r y I t is shown t h a t S a n d s t r S m ' s explanation of the fine structure found at the K-edges of Mg and A1, cannot be correct. By c o m p a r i n g these fine structures with those of Ti and Ca it appears t h a t they agree with K r o n i g's theory.
