✦ Synopsis

Thin bed experiments for the forward and reverse exchange of sodium for hydrogen and silver for potassium on DOWEX 5OW-X8 were conducted under such conditions that film diffusion controlled the exchanges. The experimental results show that the Nernst-Planck equation predicts a dependency of exchange rate on selectivity.
