✦ Synopsis

This volume contains a collection of selected papers from the ICCS/15 conference held in Porto, Portugal from 15th to 17th June 2009.

As the name implies, it was the 15th in a biennial series of conferences which commenced in Scotland in September 1981. They continue to be the only international forum with a focus on structural aspects of composite materials and are one of the longest running ''composites" conferences.

This was the first occasion the conference was held in Portugal. The conference attracted more than 350 delegates from more than 40 countries.

For the first time, the Ian Marshall's Best Student Paper (a 1000 euro award) was bestowed to Mr. Chul-Jin Moon, who presented the paper Buckling of Filament Wound Composite Cylinders Subjected to Hydrostatic Pressure for Underwater Vehicle Applications
