Meirovitch's book is, by design, a compromise and not a treatise in either classical or nonlinear mechanics. For this reason, the specialist in applied or engineering mechanics may consider it too introductory. The reviewer, however, finds the approach refreshing and highly recommends this book as an engineering text.
