โฆ Synopsis
dewar dewar
Fig. Plumbing schematic for the automatic transfer system. Valves V2 and V3 are solenoid valves operated at room temperature transfer has been exceeded. After a normal transfer (upper level reached) T2 and T3 are reset and V3 is opened and V2 closed returning the system to the normal venting state.
A number of safety features have been designed into the system. V2 is a NC valve and V3 is a NO valve so that the system reverts to the normal venting state in the event of a power failure. The system has been designed so that the valves operate at room temperature eliminating the possibility of cold related failures. If for any reason the research dewar has not been properly filled at the end of the maximum transfer time, the transfer is aborted and the system returned to the normal venting state. A battery powered alarm is provided which sounds if any abnormal condition occurs, including power failure, lower set level reached and maximum transfer time exceeded.
