โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Field desorption mass spectrometry was used to obtain molecular weight information on a variety of transition metal complexes which are air sensitive and nonvolatile. The base peak for the neutral complexes is the molecular ion and for the salt complexes is the cation.

Transition metal ion complexes with proteins and peptides are important in many areas of analytical and biological chemistry. We used positive and negative ion MALDI-MS to detect complexes with Cu and Ni ions, and show that the speciรc and non-speciรc transition metal ion-peptide complexes can be di

This paper shows the first application of field desorption-tandem mass spectrometry (FD-MS/MS) in a hybrid sector, orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight mass spectrometer. This instrumentation has significant advantages in detection limits for MS/MS experiments over four sector mass spectrometers.

## Abstract In the field desorption mass spectrometry of oligosaccharides, traces of contaminating salts in polar solvents decrease the detection sensitivity, and in some cases no ion could be detected in the molecular range. The present work shows that the addition of alkaline salts (NaI or KI) gr
