The company has signed an agreement with Tongji University and German engineering company IAV to produce a concept FCV, for which it will provide the body while Tongji will contribute fuel cells and high-power batteries.

The agreement calls for GM and SAIC to co-develop a demonstration FCV, based on technology in GM's Hydro-Gen3, which is being trialled in Tokyo and Washington, DC. A two-year demonstration will begin in early 2005, according to Associated Press.
