✦ Synopsis

I discuss some of the progress made in the recent years in understanding the internal structure of the nucleon. In particular, I focus on data from high-energy probes and on the basic observables such as the nucleon mass, momentum, and spin. The connection between quantum chromodynamics and possible few-body effective theories is briefly commented upon.
