## Abstract The principal ultrasonic signs of death of the fetus in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy are reviewed and illustrated. Several new signs, one probably due to CO~2~ in the conceptus, are recorded. The use of twoβdimensional B scanning and multiplanar stereoscopic sonar is made.
