✦ Synopsis
A new triterpenoid named colysanoxide (II) having a novel carbon skeleton hasbeenisolated fromtheleavesof colysis elliptica and C. pothifolia, together with a-onoceradienefromthelatter. Thestructureof IIwas established by spectroscopic, chemical and X-ray diffraction methods. In a previous paper11 the three onoceroid triterpenes, a-onoceradiene (I), serratene and onoceranoxide, were reported from the Polypodiaceous ferns, Lemmaphyllum microphyllum PR. varieties. In connection with triterpenoids of the same family, a new compound, named colysanoxide (II) was isolated from the dried leaves of Colysis elliptica CHING
