Comparisons of the WISC-R and WAIS-R were made in a sample of male delinquents (N = 80) to determine whether they would show differences in the degree to which the P > V sign occurred on them. A larger split between mean Verbal and mean Performance IQ was found on the WISC-R than on the WAIS-R. Freq

MMPI-I 68s of Delinquents
141 would likely vary from those obtained from standard MMPI T scores more than half of the time. The significant differences observed for L, MA, PD, PA and F probably reflect the interaction of delinquent pathology and MMPI-168 measurement error. The remedy for these differences and the two-point codetypes discrepancies would be the development of discriminant equations and raw-score conversion tables based on delinquent adolescent populations rather than adult populations. Such tables would facilitate the evidently justifiable use of the MMPI-168 with delinquent populations. With such predictive equations in hand, it could be determined how well MMPI-168 T scores of delinquents relate to other measures of psychopathology, as has been demonstrated for hospitalized adolescents (Newmark & Thibodeau, 1979).
