The feeding habits of the filter-feeding fairy shrimp Streptocephalus proboscideus are documented experimentally by offering them ciliates, Volvox, rotifers, nematodes and small crustaceans as prey . Escape capabilities (e .g . swimming speed) rather than size or shape were found to determine these
