Monoterpenes such as a-pinene, b-pinene, limonene and isolimonene undergo smooth hydroalkoxylation in the presence of 20 mol % of FeCl 3 under mild reaction conditions to produce a wide range of the corresponding ethers in excellent yields and with high selectivity.
