β¦ Synopsis
radical polymerizations of styrene, methyl methacrylate, methyl acrylate, vinyl acetate, acrylonitrile and methacrylonitrile were carried out in the presence of photoiniferters (RDC) bearing an N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate group. The effects of the structure of RDC on the polymerizations were investigated as well as the effects of the conditions such as the monomer and iniferter concentrations, the polymerizati'on temperature and the wavelength of the irradiation light. The appropriate conditions for the living radical polymerizations of these monomers were determined. Stabilization of the iniferter site at the chain end was also attempted.
