✦ Synopsis
A new procedure for the identification, isolation, and estimation of A3t, A4, and A5 alkenols is based on the intramolecular reaction occurring when these compounds are submitted to oxymercuration-demercuration in dimethylformamide solution. This method can also be applied to aldehydes, acids, and esters after their reduction to alcohols and its use in the examination of some selected seed oils, tall oil, rat liver lipids, and some fish oils both before and after partial hydrogenation is reported.
