## Abstract Monolayer cultures of fetal rat myocardial cells can be utilized to examine substrate preferences and interactions. The specific activity of glucose oxidation by myocardial cell cultures was high in sparse cultures but decreased with increased cell density. In contrast, palmitate oxidat
