Tbe effect of stress frequency on fatigue crack initiation in 99.5% pure titanium plate, which has remarkable strain rate dependence in the plastic region and notable orthotropy, was studied. Fatigue crack initiation tests were carried out under three kinds of stress frequencies (0.2, 1 and 20 Hz).

The angled crack problem has been given special attention in the recent years by fracture mechanics investigators due to its close proximity to realistic conditions in engineering structures. In this paper, an investigation of fatigue crack propagation in rectangular steel plates containing an incli
Centrally cracked specimens of JIS SM58Q and I-IT80 steels were fatigued. The fatigue crack growth rates, da/dn, and the stress intensity threshold levels, AK,, were measured over the range of stress ratio, R, from -1 to 0.8 by the use of an automatic method of continuously decreasing stress intensi
In order to safely use precipitation strengthening type A286 stainless steel in high cycles, the fundamental fatigue strength characteristics were investigated using fatigue tests at room temperature. During the fatigue test, the author paid attention to the behaviour of small fatigue cracks in orde
