โœฆ Synopsis

This paper discusses an approach for the fatigue analysis of spot-welded joints under variable amplitude load:ng. Two simplified relations, relating the nugget maximum load and metal thickness to the fatigue life of an entire durability schedule, are developed. A computer program is also developed, to predict the fittigue life in blocks of a variable amplitude load history. The program uses the spot-weld nugget rotation from finite element analysis to calculate the fatigue life. The developed computer program is tested using some coupon samples from published experimental results.

A mathematical model of fatigue crack propagation based on the crack closure concept is proposed. It allows prediction of fatigue crack growth under complex loading sequences on the basis of data obtained under constant amplitude and simple High-Low, Low-High loading sequences. The model explains th
