✦ Synopsis
A comprehensive kit for analytical field work is described. In a German nationwide research project based on the use of mobile GC/MS, standard operating procedures for the analysis of organic substances in air, water, soil and contaminated surfaces have been established. The customized equipment is designed to meet criteria of emergency response personnel particularly with respect to ruggedness and simplicity. The methods contain sampling, sample preparation, and processing followed by thermal desorption, as well as instrumental parameters for the aquisition and evaluation of data from environmental samples within 10 minutes.
