✦ Synopsis
In the May/June 2003 issue of this journal, Paul Munter presented an article on the recently issued FASB Interpretation No. 46 (FIN 46) on variable interest entities, Consolidation of Variable Interest Entities, an Interpretation of ARB No. 51. Subsequently, in December 2003, the FASB revised Interpretation 46, introducing a number of changes, which we discuss in this issue after briefly describing the background and basic requirements of the revised interpretation.
