✦ Synopsis
This volume reports on the proceedings of a symposium on molecular relaxation processes held at the Royal Institution, London,in December, 1976.
Thirteen papers are presented together with a report on the general discussion relating to these contributions. An introductory paper by Professor D. Kivelson considers the theoretical approaches to the study of molecular motions in liquids. Included in this is a discussion on the use of hydrodynamic theory to describe the motion of molecules in a liquid. Other contributions discuss the theory and practice of dielectric relaxation phenomena, the application of laser light scattering to the study of molecular motions, resonance Raman scattering, and the use of far infra-red interferometry in the study of ion-molecule interactions in liquids. The selection of topics is well balanced and the individual papers a high standard and thoroughly readable. are of WJG.
