✦ Synopsis
Far-infrared spectra of solid CH4 have been recorded at 4.2 K under pressure, P = 0.4 kbar (phase Ii) and P = 4.5 kbar (phase III). In phase IL two bands have been observed at 53 and 76 cm-', while in phase IIi three bands have been seen at 65,70 and 94 cm-'_ Lattice dynamical calcr?htions for the translational motion in a hznnonic lattice have been cozqared with the observed data_ * Research Fellow supported by the French Government
