✦ Synopsis

The far-infrared spectrum of an ethereal solution of the naphthaiene radical anion prepared by reduction with an aUrali metal shows an absorption band which is considered to be due to a vibration of an ion pair. The corresponding force constant was calculated for each ion pair from *&he observed frequency. The obtained values are of reasonable magnitude.
