✦ Synopsis

The fu infrared absorption spectrum of o-helical poly-L-alanine is measured between 4 and 200 cm-'. Two predicted infrared active longitudinal acoustic modes of the a-hehx are not observed, and this result is explained in terms of intermolecular interactions.
