โœฆ Synopsis

The rotational absorption spectrum of chlorine nitrate has been measured with u Iaourier mterferometric ~pcctronlcter in the region S-15 cm-' rit 0.07 cm-' rebolutlon. Peak positions of GG absorption lines drc hsted. 1 hc spectrum indicates that there are two molecular conformations present in the gas phase dt ambient tcmpcrature. A torsional band cxlublting at least 7 peaks has been observed ncz!r 120 cm-' and is consistent with a four-fold torsional barrier ot about 2 kcal/mole.

The low temperature spectra of solid film-\_ of sodium and cesium nitrate show wry sharp absorption bands that must be ascribed to the transversal optical modes of the crystal lattice. With increasing temperature these bands broaden considerably but no special eflect at the point of fusion is notice
