✦ Synopsis

We report on the far-infrared reflectivity and absorptivity of high quality YBa2Cu307_b thin films. The absorptivity can be characterized by three contributions: free carriers absorption that disappears below T e , an absorption process that sets in near 400 cm-I (21::1/kBT e ;::j 6) and is almost independent of temperature and, a rest absorption at small frequencies that is present at very low temperatures.

We report an infrared reflectivity study of epitaxial YBa2Cu307-6 thin films. Results for samples with different values of To, obtained by Fe doping or ion bombardment, give evidence for a gap 2A(0) ~ 7 kBTc. For ion bombarded films we find a soft mode that may correspond to a giant-amplitude oxygen

We report on low temperature far infrared reflection measurements on thin film YBa2CuaOr at magnetic fields up to 15.5 Tesla. Our measurements show for the superconductive state a clear edge in the reflectance near 400 cm -1, which develops into a distinct kink if the temperature is lowered to 1.2 K
