✦ Synopsis
CONCLUSION
The Hildebrand equation appears most applicable to hydrogen-bonding solvents whose solubility parameters are quite similar to those of the solutes; in such cases, it will give a fair estimate of the drug solubility even though the system is a polar one. Optimum solubility may he obtained by using a mixture of solvents having a composite 6 value equal to that of the solute, but when using a mixed solvent system, the observed solubility will, in general, be somewhat less than that predicted by the Hildebrand equation.
