✦ Synopsis
The stability constants of some different diaminediamine and diamineglycine nickel(H) and zinc(H) mixed ligand complexes have been determined pHmetrically. The formation enthalpies of the nickel(II) complexes were measured calorimetrically. It was found that the higher the difference between the log K JKz values of the parent complexes, the higher the stability of the mixed complexes. Thermodynamic and spectral parameters of the nickel(U) complexes revealed that mixed ligand complex formation will be unfavourable if five-membered and six-membered chelate rings are simultaneously involved in the coordination sphere.
