โฆ Synopsis
Critical current measurements give quantitative information regarding the dissipationless electrical current carrying capability of bulk high-To materials. We report an improvement of the contactless transformer technique for measuring directly the bulk transport critical currents of superconductors, and report critical currents of bulk high-To YBa2Cu3Ofbased materials as a function of sample geometry, composition, and preparation conditions. We found that the critical current density of superconductors is not independent of sample geometry, and we propose a supereurrent/magnetic flux pinning field model of the critical current state of superconductors to explain our results.
