Novel CdS hollow microspheres have been successfully synthesized via a facile template-free solutionphase reaction from cadmium nitrate and thioacetamide precursors. The morphology of CdS hollow microspheres depends strongly on the ratio between the precursors, cadmium nitrate to thioacetamide ratio
