Conclusions
The combination of distillation and facial toner preparation was successful. The majority of students agreed that this new lab design made the class more interesting and their motivation to learn was greatly improved. Students were not only exposed to the technique of distillation but were also familiarized with the procedures of making facial toner. The concepts students learned through this laboratory experiment included the areas of organic, cosmetic, and general chemistry.
