✦ Synopsis
We have fabricated a solenoidal coil without joints, employing silver sheathed Bi-2212 multifilamentary tapes by the wind and react (W&R) process. Alumina cloth tapes were wound together with the Bi-2212/Ag multifilamentary tapes to form an insulator for the coil. The coil exhibited overall current densities of 81.9 and 28.3 A/mm 2, generating magnetic fields of 1.42 and 0.50 T in backup fields of 0 and 21 T at 4.2 K (in liquid He), respectively.
