## SYNOPSIS Plasma-polymerized hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDS) films have been prepared as both planar and channel wave guides. The optical attenuation results measured in both the planar and channel HMDS wave guides were found to be similar, thus demonstrating that the inherent solvent resistance and
