✦ Synopsis
I report here on the (first) direct extraction of the running charm quark mass &(u) from the D-meson sum rules, and on the implications of this result for the estimate of the leptonic decay constants fo(,_, The 0utput.s: iit, = (1.08 f 0.11) GeV, fD N (1.52 f O.lS)f=, fD, " (1.75 f O.lS)f, an d f~ = (1.44 rfr 0.07)fii are in good agreement with the existing sum rule results obtained using the pole mass. In particular, the result fD x fs supports early '87 sum rule results [l], which indicated a huge l/m correction to the heavy quark symmetry expectation.
