✦ Synopsis

Of concern in the paper is an analysis on the stresses in an osseous tissue medium having an exterior star-shaped crack. The elasticity and anisotropicity as to the mechanical behaviour of osseous tissues have been incorporated in the study. The stress function approach together with the use of Mellin transform method has been employed to solve the problem. It is shown that the solution of the problem rests upon solving a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. The later is treated numerically in order to compute the stress-values in the neighbourhood of the crack.
