The functional ecdysteroid receptor complex consists of a nuclear receptor heterodimer of ecdysteroid receptor (EcR) and ultraspiracle (USP). EcR and USP of both Chironomus tentans and Drosophila melanogaster were expressed in Escherichia coli as fusion proteins with glutathione S-transferase (GST).
