✦ Synopsis

The expression of androgen receptor messenger RNA in hepatocellular carcinomas and hepatoma cell lines was studied using Northern-blot analysis and the complementary DNA-polymerase chain reaction method. Androgen receptor messenger RNAs were detected (although in low levels) in both hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and noncancerous tissues of the liver in all eight cases we studied, except for the tumor sample of one case. None of the hepatoma cell lines studied, however, expressed detectable levels of androgen receptor messenger RNA except for the SK-HEP-1 hepatoma cell line. (HEPATOLOGY 1991;14:99-102.)

To understand the expression and role of thyroid hormone nuclear receptors (TRs) in hepatocarcinogenesis, we characterized the TRs in 16 human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) specimens. The present study was designed to clarify the mechanism by which some lung cancer cell lines can produce cytokeratin 19 (CK19) fragment and others cannot. We hypothesized that some lung cancer cell lines which cannot release CK19 express an incomplete sequence of CK19 mRNA. Expression of mRNA was ev

## Abstract Recent evidence suggests that reactive oxygen species (ROS) play an important role in the pathogenesis of various illnesses, and the ROS and antioxidant enzymes are highly associated with cell differentiation and diseases. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that specific antioxidan

## BACKGROUND. The predeliction for prostate carcinoma cells to metastasize to bone suggests the hypothesis that bone and/or bone marrow-derived factors may promote prostate carcinoma cell growth or survival, or serve as chemoattractants for these cells. METHODS. We screened three prostate carcino
