โฆ Synopsis
This report shows that the world's leading banks are all active in building artificial intelligence applications. Some smaller banks are already involved; nearly all of them are watching the technology with interest. These users expect expert systems to be as influential as database technology. Some of the reasons for this include:
โข Banking and securities trading are people based. The quality of information and knowledge is all important. Banks and securities houses need to exploit the skills of their best staff. โข These industries are already computer intensive, and they can take advantage of existing data and computer integration. โข Increasingly complex international banking and trading tasks need powerful computer support, which expert systems can help to facilitate.
โข Banking and trading are becoming more competitive, and any improvement is efficiency or service is at a premium.
