✦ Synopsis

Astrophysics is a rapidly growing field, driven by observations from ground and spacebased telescopes, which cover all wavelengths, from radio waves to ultra-high energy gamma rays. Nuclear physics experiments provide critical input parameters, which are important for the interpretation of the observational data. New developments in accelerators and instrumentation during the last years have produced many experimental cross sections, masses and half-lives, needed to describe the new observations. In this contribution recent accomplishments relevant to studies of supernovae will be discussed.

A recoil mass separator was constructed for experiments of nuclear astrophysics using radioactive nuclear beams, and its performance was tested. The observed beam suppression factor around M ∼ 20 was 10 -4 when the system was tuned for M = 1 heavier ions than beam ions. With a charge state breeding
