✦ Synopsis
This work deals with a detailed described new method of designating the rate of the growth of hair of white mice. The fur of mice are dyed with Rhodamin B, then the hair is plucked at special areas at specified times, fixed in Canadian balsam on a lens carrier, and the length measured under a microscope between the lower edge of the roots and the lower marking of the dye.
The maximum speed per day of both, male and female, in the first and in the second cycle were approximately 0.8 ram. A division into the types 1 and 2 and into male and female showed no significant differences. A comparison with the rate of growth and with age, as well as with various phase cycles indicated no constant rate of growth, but submitted a comparison with maximum values of 1.2 mm per day. Identified value for bulb length are in accordance with those of the rate of growth. The temporary postponement of the start of hair growth on the male and female in the second cycle, as stated in the literature, is being acknowledged and at the same time fixed for maximum values. * Auszug einer als Dissertation augefertigten Arbeit unter Auleitung yon Prof.
