β¦ Synopsis
This paper presents an experimental study on automated venetian blind window systems which consist of horizontal pivoted louvers installed and hermetically sealed between two glass panes. The experimental studies were carried out using a variable temperature calorimeter (0.64 m high, 0.67 m wide and 0.61 m deep) and a test cell (2.43 m high, 1.48 m wide and 1.92 m deep). Various parameters were measured instantaneously and recorded using a data acquisition system: inside and outside air temperatures, various surface temperatures and total and direct solar radiation. A lincarized numerical model was used to evaluate the thermal resistance, the solar heat gain, and the shading coefficients of the window systems.
