β¦ Synopsis
Some measurements of discrete tone radiation from an axial flow fan are presented here in the form'of tone directivity. These are explained from the established theory relating them. The effect of cut-off is explained. The measured discrete tone power at blade passing frequency and harmonics are presented. These are compared with the radiation efficiency of corresponding modes.

A theoretical model is presented for investigating the acoustic radiation resulting from the fluctuating forces at a downstream stator row which has non-uniformly circumferentially spaced stator vanes. It is found that, under certain circumstances, judicious uneven distribution of the stator vanes c
