✦ Synopsis
which influence crystal growth and the effects of atomic migration are discussed in the next three chapters. The composition of steels and the methods by which certain desired properties are obtained are discussed in chapters eight and nine. The remainder of the book treats the phenomena of deformation, reerystallization, oxidation and corrosion.
This book is written in such a way that it can be readily understood by those with little previous knowledge of metallurgy. The numerous illustrations and photomicrographs aid greatly in the presentation of the material discussed in the text. There is an appendix containing a description of crystallographic terms. The book also contains a glossary of scientific terms, a bibliography and a list of questions arranged to correspond to the various chapters.
This volume, although non-technical in nature, contains much useful information and should be of value to persons in fields other than metallurgy who wish to learn more of this interesting subject.
