โฆ Synopsis
The hydro-bulging process is a new technology for manufacturing spherical vessels. On the basis of their achievements in the hydro-bulging process for spherical vessels made from 32-sided polyhedral shells, the authors have succeeded in the hydro-bulging of spherical vessels from a tetrakaidecahedral shell ( 14-sided polyhedral shell).
In the present paper the experimental process of the hydro-bulging of a 14-sided spherical vessel (from a tetrakaidecahedral shell) is described; the deformation characteristics and the wall thickness distribution are analysed and discussed; some effective measures are advanced for solving problems possibly occurring in the process; and, finally, the advantages of the process are summarised.
