✦ Synopsis


Nonlinear dynamical attractors of a natural circulating boiling flow were experimentally measured. Phase-space projections in the flow subcooled length and flow exit quality planes were reconstructed using convolutions of the experimental signal. It was found that the flow tends to drop as the subcooled length increases, because of the reduction of the buoyancy force. The characteristics of the observed oscillations present significant similitudes with chaotic responses recently encountered in many nonlinear systems.
