✦ Synopsis


We study, by time-resolved photoluminescence, the radiative lifetime of InAs quantum boxes (QBs) placed in the core of small volume and high finesse GaAs/AlAs pillar microresonators. The spontaneous emission rate of the QBs, which are on-resonance with a cavity mode, is found to be up to five time larger than for QBs which are off-resonance. We explain this effect by considering the modification of the vacuum electromagnetic field induced by the cavity.
