โœฆ Synopsis

llxperiments on the unimolecuhr decomposition of ion clusters of the type Ar,t-(CHa)aO* to form Aqr-CHaOCHl and Xr,,CHO+. shoa the total product ion intensity to be sensitive to the stagnation pressure behind the expansion nozzle. At sufticntl> lot\ pressures it IS possible to form Am-(CH&O+ clusters aLone with no evidence of any product ions. As the nozzle pressure is increased so the toral product ion intensity is observed to increase also. These results are interpreted in terms of the argon component of the cluster under_roinr a transition from a Liquid-Like to 1 solid-like state. I. Introduction ,I number of .ruthors have considered the possibility th.rt a microclustrr may exhibit temperature-dependent behaviour which could be identified as chancteristic of a phase transition. A longitudinal study was conducted to examine the hypothesis that the development of prehension during the first 5 months of life is characterized by the presence of a discontinous phase transition. Ten infants were observed weekly from 8 to 24 weeks of age. Video recordings were made of movements t
