intramolecular N{Hrrrp (aromatic) interactions are present (in a subsequent literature search we came through the x-ray diffraction work performed by Drew and Willey, 6 who also reported the occurrence of such a type of interaction in a phenylhydrazone derivative of benzophenone). These findings prompted us to reexamine the structure of (Z-Ac 6 c) 2 O in more detail and to expand the experimental investigation of that unconventional type of interaction to other structurally related molecules.
In this communication we describe the x-ray diffraction structures of three additional N a -benzyloxycarbonylated symmetrical anhydrides from other C a,a -disubstituted glycines, namely Ac 7 c (1-aminocycloheptane-1-carboxylic acid; 3), Ac 8 c (1-aminocyclooctane-1-carboxylic acid; 4), and Ac 9 c (1-aminocyclononane-1-carboxylic acid; 5), all of them characterized by
