✦ Synopsis

short review of experimental methods currently used in evaluating the velocity of fast crack extension is given. The technique of applying a surface deposited grid gauge has been innovated. This new technique involves a grid produced by a phot~hemic~ method and an electronic registration circuit based on integrated transistor-transistor logic. This new method has been applied to experimental studies of brittle crack extension in steel at temperatures between -11s and t22"c.

## Abstract Ultrasonometry seems to have a future for the evaluation of fracture healing. Ultrasound propagation velocity (USPV) significantly decreases at the same time that bone diameter decreases as healing takes place, thus approaching normal values. In this investigation, both USPV and broadba
